Another swamp - Another show!
Yesterday morning I spent time at another swamp - this one borders Conway and Ashfield. It was a gorgeous April morning - 35 degrees and no wind. As soon as I started out I heard more birdsong than I have so far this year - it was wonderful. As I went around a corner I saw this gorgeous silhouette of a barn swallow. I thought to myself, another swamp - another show!
I wandered around while I was waiting for the sun to rise trying to figure out where I would like to be when the sun came up. I picked my spot and listened to the total stillness other than the birdsong - that is always a wonderful way to start the day for me. Just as the sun was coming up I decided to change to a location slightly to my right and then I got ready. On these crisp mornings I am always hoping I will see the breath of a red-winged blackbird as it belts out its song…. and guess what…… it happened!
I looked to my right and I saw my first Palm Warbler of the season!
Another Palm Warbler landed straight out in front of me!
As soon as I took the shot above a flash of blue caught my eye to my left - and this incredible show happened!!
It is hard to believe this is all real….. just so glorious….
Right down in front of me my first of the year sighting of a Yellow-rumped warbler!
I looked up after the Yellow-rumped and this incredible moment happened in a flash!
You know how I love back lighting… everything was going my way…. :)
Sometimes it keeps falling into place…. wow…..!
Swamps are just bursting with so much beauty and life - it is truly amazing!
Are you kidding me?? A ruby-crowned kinglet in flight!
This sweetheart practically landed on my right shoulder…..
How spectacular is this Swamp Sparrow?
Beautiful tree swallow
A beautiful bluebird getting the material for the all important nest…..
Very serious nest building ….
And last but not least… a beautiful Phoebe who had been signing non-stop all morning.
On this Earth Day I give thanks…
