Picture Perfect Bullitt - Part 1!
I will share much more from Fogo another day… I am thrilled that you are enjoying the Fogo posts as much as I am enjoying sharing them with you! I see that some of the wonderful people that I meant on my Fogo trip have signed up for my blog - thank you so very much - I miss you all.. For you newcomers… Bullitt Reservation is part of the non-profit Hilltown Land Trust in Ashfield, MA. I spend countless mornings there - I absolutely love it.
I am very excited to share this morning’s outing - it was absolutely incredible. Everything about this morning had me happy to ignore all of the bug bites that I was getting. :).
For this post I will keep my commentary to a minimum and hope that you enjoy clicking through and seeing the gifts at Bullitt this morning…
Female Common Yellowthroat
As soon as I arrived in the upper field - a flash of blue caught my eye - I spun around to my right just in time to catch this gorgeous male Indigo Bunting hopping from one weed to the next! I can’t tell you how hard I have been trying to capture Indigo Buntings at Bullitt with not great results - that changed this morning for me…
When he landed right in this spot I know that I stopped breathing I was so excited…. And the magic continued…
Male and female Indigo Buntings…. I have so wanted to capture them together….. today was the day…
I just love little Phoebes
I felt the presence of something to my left…and turned to see this beauty …
She kept a close eye on me but definitely wasn’t bothered by me… she hung around for quite a few minutes…
I heard the buzz of a hummingbird to my right -
And another arrived -
I felt the deer moving.. so I moved a little to my left… She is standing almost in the exact spot that the bobcat was standing on in January. This morning I was on the opposite side of where I took the bobcat photo from in January.
I was 99% sure that the deer would continue along and then cross the path whereI walk in the field… She was out of view right after the above shot so I quietly moved forward a few steps and into a low position in case I was right… and I was…
I heard the spectacular song of a Chestnut-Sided Warbler and made my way towards its song…. and found this beautiful male!
And then my dear friends, I saw a flash of brilliant red - a male Scarlet Tanager!! So often they are way up in the canopy in the trees and very difficult for me to photograph… today’s luck continued for me - they were much lower in the trees. I saw multiple males and females… I still can’t believe it! You will see the females when I post Part 2….what a show they put on…. :)
The next is the last shot for this post… a female Redstart… Another bird that I have not had luck with this year… until today…
What a glorious morning…
